Volume 8 Number 3                                                                  Los Vaqueros AHSA, Inc.                                                                                  March 2011

Howdy-hey Folks,

Before I get wound up here I would like to pass on a “MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT”, No not that president, from our own Club President and Territorial Governor of the year 2010, T. A. Chance;

“As probably most of you here know, Los Vaqueros was started 25 years ago and membership dues were $18 for families and $12 for individuals. Match fees were $6 for members and $8 for non members. These are still our fees today and the fees we want to keep. When we started out we gave a free match for a clean shoot. This was back when we shot on Forest Service property so there were no range fees. This part has changed. So in order to keep our membership dues and match fees the same, we have made a change in our Clean Shoot Awards.

We have pins that will be awarded for a clean shoot. If you get 5 clean shoot pins in a year (of the same color) you can turn them in to Los Vaqueros for a free match. You have to give the pins back. There will be no clean shoot awards for the Open category. This will help us offset the cost of the free shoots.

Fred Parry, aka Stands Alone (S.A.S.S. # 13) has been a member since Los Vaqueros was started even though he now lives up in Showlow. Along with his membership dues this year, he sent a note saying “Old Dead Eye would be proud as the dues structure has not changed since the beginning” Since Old Dead Eye was a founder of this club and gave a lot of time and effort to it for the last 20 years of his life, it is our intention to continue to do what Old Dead Eye would want done.

We also have new badges for Los Vaqueros. Since Arizona is the “Copper State”, our new badges are copper. They will be for sale at our matches for $10. “

                                                                          T.A. Chance

We noted that the Fort Des Moines Rangers had introduced a new category in their shooting program and we will be offering it here at Los Vaqueros. This is a Range Detective category for folks that “for whatever reason” cannot shoot the shotgun. I know of a few folks that have had to stop shooting with us due to not being able to use a shotgun any more. I would like to take this time to invite them, and anyone else that would like to come out and enjoy the fun but have not, to give serious reconsiderations. Depending on the stage, you may be required to reload and shoot your rifle/ pistols and shoot the shotgun targets (knocking them down) so it is not intended to be an easy money category. It will be a “work in progress” so, for those of you that would like to participate, please come on out and help us get it sorted. The primary purpose is to give those that cannot shoot the shotgun a chance to come out and have fun.

So, what are you waiting for?  Saddle up and come on out to the Tombstone Livery this Sat. the 19th of March and see what Buckeye Pete has in store for you. He should provide us all with some fun stages. Sign up at 8am Shooters meeting at 9am. Take Good Care
